The production of accurate mesh openings with defined surface characteristics within strict biological specifications is a prerequisite for medical applications. The dedicated washing and heat setting line is validated in accordance to ISO 13485 and ensures high levels of cleanliness and biocompatibility.

Sterilization options for all SEFAR MEDIFAB® fabrics

EtO and Gamma, Autoclave under certain conditions.

In addition to the standard testing methods all SEFAR MEDIFAB® fabrics are batch tested for endotoxins and hemolytic substances. For every shipment of SEFAR MEDIFAB® a Certificate of Conformity (CoC) stating the conformity of the shipped lots with the specifications is available.

SEFAR MEDIFAB® fabrics are tested in accordance to sections of the ISO 10993 and USP <88> plastics class VI

– Endotoxin: non-pyrogenic

– Hemocompatibility non-hemolytic

– Non-cytotoxic

– No sensitization

– Low extractables

SEFAR MEDIFAB® fabrics are suitable for short-term medical applications with a cumulative contact time of less than 24 hours. This includes products that come into contact with body surfaces such as skin, mucosa, or injured skin. It also applies to products that interact with the body internally from the outside, such as the blood system. For applications involving medical implants or implant components, please contact Sefar.

Upon request, polyetheretherketon (PEEK) and polypropylene (PP) as well as knitted and multifilament fabrics can be finished in the SEFAR MEDIFAB® process.
